Fruits of my Labor

Just thought I would bring some of my hard work indoors to enjoy. This is an arrangement of peonies, roses, ivy, and boxwood clippings.

Our "Flowergirl" Cat

Callie loves sitting and laying in these flower pots on the back porch. If she is not in her basket, she is usually in one of the three flower pots. She fills every inch of the pots up too. We call her our "Flowergirl" because she loves these pots soooo much. Sometimes, she hides in them to try and catch the birds that eat their cat food. Pretty clever!!! After I plant flowers in the pots, she finds somewhere else to lay. Smart kitty! :)

Planting my garden

Oreo would swat his tail in my face over and over. I love my pets being around me while I am outside. It helps to pass the time by. Oreo is 12 years old. Bless his heart....you can tell he is getting feeble. Pepper is a very loving and jealous dog. You could not find a dog that loves his family more than he does!!! He is blind in his left eye. The people who gave him to us had horses, and a horse kicked him in his eye....poor baby! :(
Callie LOVED the garden!!! She would walk a few feet...stop....then roll and scoot!!! She did this over and over.

We had a local elderly man to plow and get my garden ready for us this year. Usually, Adam, my brother-in-law, brings his HUGE tractor and disk and works it up for us. I worked all day Tuesday in the garden raking the weeds out, throwing out fertilizer, and tilling. My arms were so sore because I am so out of shape it is ridiculous. Well, Thursday(April 30th) the signs were right for planting and setting out the seeds according to the calendar and Granny. Once again, I worked all day in the garden. I got the entire garden planted and raked more weeds out. This time, my entire body was sore!!! I had lots of help while planting the garden....my pets. Pepper, our dog, follows me everywhere I go. He is my second shadow. Before long both cats were in the garden. Every once in awhile, a cat tail would swat me in the face and then a dog would be breathing in my face because he is so jealous of the cats. Anyways, here are a few photos of the pets assisting me in the garden....helping me past time by more quickly.

National Take Your Child to Work Day

Well, you all know that I am a SAHM that subs at my kids's school. I just happened to be subbing on the National Take Your Child to Work Day in Rylee's classroom. How about that!!! Of course, he was thrilled to death!!! I thought this would be a Kodak moment, and I actually remembered my camera. As usual, Caleb was not too thrilled to have his picture taken. :) I know this posting is alittle late, but better late than never.

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day in case you did not know. Try to do your part to make the World a better place for the future generations. It does not take a HUGE effort on your part. Here are a few things that we do as a family:

1. changed our light bulbs to those new curly-q looking ones (do not know the correct name)
2.turn the water while we brush our teeth (I have even taught Noah and Sarabeth to do this...yeah)
3. try to turn the lights off when we leave a room
4. recycle: magazines, newspapers and cans (You can sell your cans for money!!!)
5.reuse: Wal-Mart sacks for garbage bags, donate toys and clothes, reuse Christmas bows of course
6. reduce electricity and water as mentioned above
7. do not litter!!!!!
8.Plant trees or keep the ones you have...need them for the air with breathe
9. wash full loads of dishes and clothes
10. Try to use LESS hot water
11. Leave No Trace....Something we learned in Cub Scouts: Do not bother nature by pulling bark from the trees, breaking limbs, disturbing the wildlife and etc.
12. bumped up the thermostat a degree or two

I know there are a lot more things you could do, but these are just some simple things you can do on a regular basis. Before long, you start to do these things without even thinking about it. We all need to do our part, for our children and grandchildren.
