Frank is OvEr the HiLL......BIG 60!!!!!

We surprised Frank (my father-in-law) with a family birthday/grill out party for his 60th birthday on August 31, 2009. Almost all of his side of the family attended the gathering in his honor. I grilled out whole chickens (well, I tried to grill them....had a slight problem with the chicken and the charcoal). We had all the fixins': baked beans, slaw, potato salad, boiled okra, dressed eggs, salad, rolls, corn, and spinach dip. Had to make some minor adjustments for the meat......thanks goodness for Aunt Debbie's pork roast and Whitt's BBQ......

The kiddos helping Granddaddy/Uncle Frank blow out the candles. Had a few trick candles on there too......60 candles in all....almost needed the Fire Dept! From left to right: Noah, Waylon, Rylee, Sarabeth, Frank, Caleb, Isabella and Hope.

Frank and his boys: Seth, Ezra, Frank, Taulbe, and Adam
Rare occasion to get all of them in a picture together!

Frank with his sisters, Cellie and Debbie!

Franks REALLY enjoyed his surprise party. He knew that I was cooking supper for him, but he did not know that his extended family was attending. His boys and their families went in together and got him an iPod touch. We wish you many more birthdays and thank you for always making us smile!

The Tooth Fairy visits Sarabeth

Last week while Sarabeth and Noah were at my house (I pick them up from school on Fridays), Bethany (her moma) pulled Sarabeth's first tooth while at our house. Glad moma was there to do it and Tot (me) did not have too. :) I gave Sarabeth her first dollar to add to her tooth fairy money collection. SMILE :)

This past week she lost another tooth on the bottom.

Thrifty Mondays

I am joining Southern Hospitality for Thrifty Mondays. Thought I would share some rooster bowls that I purchased about a month ago at TJMaxx. The bowls are hand-painted and were a steal at $1.00 each. Got all that they had....six of them which was the exact number that I needed. Thinking Tablescape Thursday........

Happy Labor Day 2009

It is that time of year when we say "Good-bye" to summer! Just wanted to wish all of you a Happy and Safe Labor Day! Enjoy you day off.......

Thrifty Thursday~ All this for $1.23...no joke

Last week, I went into our local Salvation Army Store. I have not been in this store in a long time. I noticed the Star of David bud vase immediately for 49 cents. On the next shelf , I found the piece that goes with an oil and vinegar set of the same pattern for 49 cents too.
Walked around a little more.....found this little cutie pie....isn't it the cutest thing ever!!!! It is about 4 inches tall....do not know where I will find candles tiny enough to fit...but that can be another day of shopping and searching. I think I am going to spray paint it a flat black to match some other black iron looking candle holders that I have.

Sorry that you are having to turn your head to the side...but it is worth it to see this little cutie pie....I LOVE tiny cute stuff...don't you?

The making of the next pair of famous blogland birds

Yesterday, I stopped in at our local Pier 1. They had these cute little birdies for only $3.00 for the set. Yep, that is correct....3.00 bucks for the pair!!!! The cashier told me that they are getting in a lot of bird stuff this fall....they better watch out for us "blogland" customers....we like our little birdies and our little bunnies!!! They had some darling bird salad plates for 5.00 bucks each. In three different colors: golden yellow, deep lime green, and dark blue. I did not purchase any because I could not decide on which color plus I did not need to spend the money either. It is soooo hard to say no!!!!! Do you think these birdies will be as famous as the Target birdies????

Tomatoes.....and more tomatoes....

Well, I guess you know what I will be doing today. Yep, you guessed correctly...canning tomatoes! I have a lot of them, BUT they are small. I might get 7 quarts out of all of the these. I do not eat these things, but I like to cook with them. Good thing that I do not have a job right now since my garden has decided to start coming in.....canned some pickled okra last night.
