Foodie Friday~ Sauteed Mushrooms

Start with fresh mushrooms.....washed of course!
Cook until very brown in color. I cook them in my Great grandmother's cast iron skillet....my grandmother is 93 years old. So, my skillet is OLD!!!!!!

Served them with homemade french fries (the only kind I cook), pasta, and hamburger steak with onions.
Sauteed Mushrooms
16 ozs fresh mushrooms
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1/4 cup butter
Wash the mushrooms and let drain. In a cast-iron skillet, melt the butter and add the remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mushrooms are very brown.
Enjoy!!
***Very tasty with steak and grilled hamburgers.

This is what happens when you drink too much Sun-Drop

You flip your lid and turn into a skeleton. This handsome fella was my traveling companion today from the high school to the elementary school. We are using him in the Haunted House during the Fall Festival tomorrow night.

Views from the van

Our home is on the other side of this hill......
Some of my brothers-in-law's equipment

Love this picture....looks like it could be a postcard!

It really needs to stop raining around here for a while so the farmers can harvest their crops!

FYI when you are using nuts and dried beans

A several weeks ago, I filled a apothecary jar with various nuts from my backyard and dried beans from the grocery store. Well, little did I know that the beans would end up looking like this......
I guess the nuts still had some moisture in them. When I placed them inside the apothecary jar, they could not get any air flow....the beans started to sprout and mold. Well, you live and learn...right?

Tablescape Thursday~ War Eagle

I am joining Susan from Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Not your typical tablescape....looks more like a game day party! Well, my wheels got to turning last night during church while my little one was writing War Eagle on a piece of paper. I gathered a few of our Auburn memorabilia and went to work.
I used some of the kiddos jerseys for a tablecloth.

The Auburn football is from Fan Day 2008. We stood in line for hours to get the football player's and Tommy Tuberville's autographs. I could really care less about football, but I LOVE to watch the people at the game. I like to socialize!!! I have always been an Auburn fan because when I was little I either wanted to be a veterinarian or a teacher when I grew up. Well, no vet school for me.

The blue chargers were purchased from TJMaxx several years ago ....only have two...booohoooo! The plates are Currier & Ives.

Toomer's Corner is the PLACE TO BE after Auburn wins a game....party central!!! They roll the corner with toilet paper. The drug store has some yummy lemonade too.

War Eagle....Baby!!!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the team our family supports. Hopefully, they will have a successful year this year with their new coach! Be sure to check out all the other great tablescapes.

Oh Deer!!!

Our backyard would be a hunter's dream.....lucky for the wildlife we live within the city limits....I guess that means no hunting? Well, we don't kill them anyway! Friday I looked out our kitchen window and this is what I saw. There were five in all. You can not see the fifth deer. I do not care how many times we see these creatures in our yard, we act as if it was the first time. Sometimes, the deer will get within 20 ft. from our detached garage which is close to our home to eat from our apple tree.
We have turkeys, opossums(sometimes they come onto the back porch to eat cat food), squirrels, rabbits, and a fox. A couple of months ago, a fox was about 10 ft. from our back porch. Rylee said, "Moma, there is a funny looking pet in the backyard." I looked out and it was a fox...just standing there looking back at me. It stood there for a few minutes....just looking back at each other.

Well, that's all folks!

Metamorphosis Monday~ Adding some fall and Halloween

I am joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday. I have added a touch of Fall and Halloween this week to two of my display areas. I visited our local Dollar Tree on Saturday and picked up a few items. On the buffet table in our living room, I added a fall lear garland. Looking at the picture, I realized that I need to change out the candles to a fallish color...don't you think? Maybe they are half-price this week at Hobby Lobby! I know it looks like an Easter display with all of the bunnies, but I keep my bunnies out all year long.

This was my fall display of my cloches until today....remember I went to the Dollar Tree on Saturday.
This is the new and improved Halloween cloche display! I could not resist the bag of skulls. Other people could not resist them either because I purchased the last bag of skulls....can you believe it! What is Halloween with out a black crow?
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to visit all the other changes from everyone else in blogland.

Tablescape Thursday~ Fall Theme

I am joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. I am a little late because it is Friday....better late than never right??? I am sharing with you my fall tablescape. I have had this completed for about a month now....hope you enjoy!
Sit down and relax as we prepare for a meal.....Let us give thanks!

Nothing says fall like tones of browns, oranges, and golds!

I purchased this dishes at a local antique store several years ago. The pattern is Nasco Mountain Wood Land. I paid 60.00 for a eight place settings with some serving pieces. The serving pieces are used through out the tablescape. See if you can find them. I thought it was a good deal! I have several of these plates hanging through out our home. The gold charger set a nice backdrop for the dishes as well as the stripped placemat. The placemats were a deal from Wal-Mart back in the summer for 1.00 each. Bought the rusty orange napkins at a antique store for 2.00 for the six. Don't you just love a great deal?

Just one of the many brown transferware plates that I have.

A feathered friend flew in for a visit......

The gold tablecloth belonged to my Memaw. I used it as a tablerunner and gathered it in the center.

The cream and sugar set belonged to my other Memaw. I love using things that have special meaning to me.

These hydrangea blooms came from our first home place as a married couple. We purchased my great uncle's home and remodeled it. I dried these blooms during the fall of 1997, and I have kept them ever since. I gave them center-stage as the centerpiece.

Bird's eye view.......my feathered friends flew in for a visit and decided to stay for a while. The bird candle holders (one on each end) were purchased at the Dollar Tree. They are sooo cute!

Night time has fallen.....candles are lit

The Iris tea glass belonged to my Memaw Smith. Love the amber glow!

Thank you for visiting my Tablescape....hope you enjoyed it. Be sure to visit all the other wonderful TT. Thank you so much!

It's Fall Y'all

Just like the sign says...."Welcome"....whether you are a visitor, a feathered friend needing a snack, or a trick-or-treater...come on in and enjoy the tour!
Ivy topiaries on either side of the front door.

Decorations on the front porch....a tradition of mine since I was at home (before I was married). I love having something to welcome my little visitors on Halloween night! Now, my kiddos love and expect it every year!! These two scarecrows were some thrifty finds about 6 years ago....found them in someone garage cans!!! Can you believe that....nothing wrong with them, so I gave them a new home!!!

This Mr. Scarecrow has been a part of our family for 13 years. Mr.Hubby bought him for me for our 1st Halloween. I use him every year. I am getting a lot of use out of my brother-in-law's corn crop this year!!!! Thanks a bunch!

What is Halloween without a black cat or four???

This is a sneak peak of my fall tablescape in the dining room. I will go into more detail next week for Susan's Tablescape Thursday....stay tuned!

This is a grouping of various pumpkins and fall floral picks from Hobby Lobby of course!

You may remember my posting on cloches a few weeks ago.

This is my new fall wreath in the kitchen. I made it for 17 bucks!!! Everything was purchased at Hobby Lobby.

Some fall this and that in a pewter dish.
Thank you for touring my home and looking at my fall decor. Be sure to check out all of the other great posting on Southern Hospitality. Thanks again. Have a Great Fall.....
